Muurikka Pizza Stone user instructions

Read the instructions for use carefully before use and keep the instructions. Follow the instructions carefully.

  • Do not store the pizza stone outdoors. Cold will cause it to crack.
  •  The pizza stone can break due to shock or falling.
  • Do not use a cracked or damaged stone. Broken fragments can be sharp and cause damage.

Getting started and cleaning the pizza stone

Rinse the pizza stone with warm water before first use. Let it dry completely. Sudden changes in temperature can cause the stone to crack. The pizza stone is not dishwasher safe.

Scrape stuck food residues from the stone surface with a plastic or wooden spatula. Clean the stone with water; you can use a wet cloth or sponge to help out. Do not dip a hot pizza stone in cool or cold water; let the stone cool down before rinsing it with water. Do not soak the pizza stone in water. Do not use washing-up liquid for cleaning – it can absorb into the material and thereby cause flavour defects in next use. The pizza stone darkens over time and can get stained; this is normal and does not affect the flavour of the foods cooked or the performance of the pizza stone.

Using the Pizza Stone

The pizza stone should be preheated before use. Put the pizza stone in the oven or grill when you start heating the oven or ignite the grill. Let the pizza stone heat in the oven/grill for approximately 10 minutes.

Use a pizza spatula/peel or baking paper onto which you have sprinkled wheat or corn flour. Put the pizza onto the stone. Bake the pizza until the cheese has melted and the edge of the pizza is crisp. When the pizza is ready, lift it from the pizza stone to a heat-resistant cutting board with a pizza spatula/peel. Let the pizza stone cool down in the oven/grill and only then lift it carefully onto a pot coaster. Scrape stuck food residues from the stone surface with a plastic or wooden spatula. Clean the stone with water; you can use a wet cloth or sponge to help out.
