Care instructions

Clean the ashes from the fireplace thoroughly after each use. Make sure that the embers have been fully extinguished before cleaning. Also make sure that there is no risk of fire from the dying embers or other combustible material. The easiest way to clean it is to brush the ash through the hole in the middle of the firepit into the ashpan. Emptying the ashpan is easy, e.g. into a metal bucket. Please note that the ashpan may be hot, so use a pot holder to lift the ashpan.

If your fireplace is not used for a long time, you can lightly coat the fireplace with cooking oil. The oil forms an anti-rust layer on the surface.

Fix with touch-up paint

If, despite the maintenance of your Tundra Grill, develops scratches or paint wears off in places, we recommend that you repair the worn paint surface with Tundra Grill Touch-up paint as soon as possible. First clean the area to be repainted thoroughly of soot and grease, and allow to dry. If the worn area has already rusted, thoroughly clean the rust before painting. Treat the clean and dry area with Tundra Grill Touch-up paint according to the instructions on the packaging.

FIRE SAFETY DISTANCES

The steel Tundra Grill® from Finland is an excellent source of warmth and ambiance. Moreover, it is a fabulous piece of cooking equipment. When using an open fire, practise due diligence at the cooking location and note the valid fire safety regulations. Thanks to the turning grate in the fireplace, you can use wood or charcoal as fuel.

  • Make sure to always burn a moderate fire when using the Tundra Grill. Improper use of the fireplace often damages the surface treatment.
  • Never light a fireplace with petrol or other similar unsuitable substances!
  • Keep ignition fluids and fire making materials out of the reach of children!
  • Never leave children alone by the fireplace!
  • Do not store flammable materials or liquids in the immediate vicinity of the bottom of the fireplace.
  • When handling hot hobs (lift-turn), grasp the appliance by its wooden handles or wear protective gloves.
  • The properties of steel in an open fire use include rapid warming, so do not touch parts that are not protected by wood. The bottom side of the fireplace and the ashpan become very hot during use.
  • Do not lean on the fireplace.
  • Avoid burning disposable containers, plastic, cardboard, etc. in the fireplace, which can produce and disperse flammable embers into the surroundings.
  • Only burn birch and alder, do not burn other types of wood.
  • Always have fire-extinguishing equipment nearby, and instruct others on how to act during an emergency.
  • Do not start cooking until the top of the materials in the Firepit have turned into ash
