Pea soup in a pressure cooker

The recipe yields the best results when cooking with the  Mari Easy Pressure Cooker .

  • 1 bag of peas (approx. 500 g)
  • 1 l water
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 1 bag of cold-smoked reindeer crumb
  • Pepper from the mill
  • Fresh onions diced
  • Finnish mustard

Soak the peas overnight in water. Rinse the peas in the morning and pour away most of the water. Put the peas in the pressure cooker, add the broth cube and water. Close the pressure cooker lid and heat.

When the pressure valve starts to beep, lower the heat so that the valve remains loosely open. That means that the pressure cooker has the maximum pressure and the valve steadily evens it. Cook for two hours, after which the peas are cooked and slightly broken. You can also cook for a shorter period of time, however, by doing so the flavour of peas is not transferred to the stock, which is an essential part of pea soup.

Then add the reindeer crumbs and leave to boil for a moment with the lid open. Turn off the stove, check the flavour and season with freshly ground pepper. Serve the soup with finely cut onions and Finnish mustard.
